Bad Hair Week!

Last week was disastrous for my hair tools! My blow dryer split in two and is now hanging on by a few strips of duct tape and my flat iron decided turning on was no longer in its repertoire. It was time to invest in something new and that something new just so happens to be the prettiest flat iron I have ever seen!

Say hello to my new Paul Mitchell Express Ion Smooth De-Luxe Iron! Isn't she pretty :)

Essie

It would be an understatement to say I like nail polish,
I LOVE it and I am super obsessed with it. I can't leave
the grocery store, Target or Walgreens without throwing
a polish in my cart. When I first discovered my
love for nail polish I was a huge fan of O.P.I.
I flirted with Chanel polish (honestly the worst
polish out there, you pay $30 a bottle for it to
just chip off a day later) and Deborah Lippmann
(amazing polish, but can not stomach paying that
much a bottle!)but ultimately found my one true
polish love, Essie!

Patterned Linens

One of my favorite parts of my job is when I get to help out with the design of an event. One of the key elements I always think about when designing an event is the use of fabric. Fabric is an easy way to pull in texture, color and adds so much visual interest. Your table linen is an awesome way for you to pull you color palette together and is the grounding design element in your tablescape. I am a huge fan of using patterned linens to create maximum visual interest. Below are some examples from recent events I have done.

Indulge!

Whew! It has been a whirlwind week filled with prepping for an event, executing that event and a bunch of meetings in between. When I have a week like this I always take some time to indulge in some of my favorite things to inspire me and keep me going. Below are the little things that kept me going this week :)

I LOVE The Rachel Zoe Project! It is probably my guiltiest pleasure, don't judge! What I love most about the show is see the inner workings of her office and how she has expanded so rapidly in the last few years. The business side of fashion really intrigues me!
I can read the same issue of Vogue over and over and never get board. Opening up a Vogue is the perfect getaway for a few minutes!

Playing with the girls, Lucy & Coconut!!!

Marc Jacobs Strikes Again!

Marc Jacobs' imagination ran wild for his Fall 2013 Louis Vuitton show in Paris. The circular set featured a runway lined with a row of numbered hotel doors. Each model would emerge from their own room, leaving the door ajar as they did one full turn on the runway, and then returned to their room and shut the door. The performance came to an end when Kate Moss emerged from a door in a gorgeous low cut gown, took her turn on the runway, and then slammed her door shut to a perfectly timed blackout. Marc Jacobs' creativity is inspiring! He truly is a fashion genius!

All About: Katy Cartland, Owner/Creator of The Clever Bunny and Katy Cartland Photography

1. How did you get into blogging and photography? I have always had an interest in writing and photography, and I come from a long line of crafty ladies! I finally found a way to marry these things together to make The Clever Bunny!

2. Who or what inspires you? I have a long list of blogs that I read/look at every day (yours is one of them!), and all of those ladies and gents definitely help fuel the creative fire. On a deeper level, my husband is the biggest inspiration in my life - he works hard, he is intelligent, takes care of himself physically and still finds the time to enjoy life! His well-roundedness inspires me.

3. What are you currently reading? I am currently exactly 3 pages into "The Road" by Jack Kerouac =)

4. Coffee or tea?  Girl. Coffee. Black. And thick like oil. I want the spoon to stand straight up in that coffee mug.

5. Early bird or night owl? I am a night owl by nature, for sure! I am finally at a point in life where I can get to sleep before midnight, but it has taken a year of training to get there.

6. Favorite beauty product of the moment? I used an Origins Charcoal Mask called Clear Improvement in Hawaii that I am obsessed with! I don't wear a lot of makeup on a day to day basis, so having something freshen my skin is my biggest priority!

7. Favorite magazine? I would love to say something edgy here like "Nylon", but actually, my favorite is Real Simple. I am kind of an old lady like that =) And Lucky Magazine.

8. Favorite place you have traveled? Definitely Hawaii, so far, as far as a complete package. But I am definitely a city girl, so I will never turn down a trip to NYC or Chicago!

9. Defining moment in your blogging/photography career? My first paying photography job was definitely a defining moment! It became a real thing instead of a dream. It was amazing. And incredibly difficult. But in a good way =)

10. Any advice for aspiring bloggers and photographers out there? I think it is important to find your voice or your brand. I have found that what people respond to the most is consistency. Even if you are replicating something someone else has done, always find a way to put your personal "stamp" on it.

Below are some projects Katy has tackled on her blog. She is truly the craftiest girl I know!

Madewell

Houston's first Madewell store is opening in The Galleria this summer and I could not be more excited about it! Madewell is J Crew's sister store and features merchandise priced 20-30% less than its big sister counterpart. Below are some of my favorite looks for Spring 2013!
